Opening a new savings account with a power of attorney
Here’s what you’ll need to do:

Open the account first. You can do this online, in a branch or by post.
We need the account holder’s details, not the power of attorney’s details.

Complete our power of attorney appointee form.

If you haven’t already registered a power of attorney to a YBS account
We’ll also need:
Your power of attorney document
An original or certified copy - or your online lasting power of attorney verification code.
Your ID documents
We need to see ID for the power of attorney and the account holder. We’ll need to see three pieces of ID for each person.
One which confirms your name
One which confirms your address
One more which confirms your name or your address.
Some examples of what we can accept:
Name
Signed UK or foreign passport
EU or UK full or provisional driving licence
Residence permit issued by the Home Office to an EU national
Armed Forces ID card.
Address
UK utility bill from the last 3 months
Council tax bill from the last 12 months
UK bank or building society statement from the last 3 months
Current Post Office re-direction letter.

You can post the documents to us or take them into one of our branches. If you’re posting them to us, we can accept photocopies but not photographs.
